SHMOG - HAIRPIN EXHIBITION VOL.2
As an extended exhibition from the HAIRPIN EXHIBITION VOL.1, the new theme of the exhibition states: “GOOD THINGS BREAK EASILY, AND GLASS EASILY SHATTERS.” This piece was inspired by an actual accident - when a naughty kid knocked off the exhibit case and broke the antique hairpins,... With the ancient repair technique called Kintsukuroi, these broken hairpins will also be exhibited with a new look while still holding onto the original spirit.
As a part of the design, I want to emphasise, ragility, beauty, temptation, and brokenness. Inspired by Madame Butterfly, I created the key visual based on a story in my mind about a girl waiting in the garden for her beloved to return back home.Overnight, her hair and eyelashes turned white. In her determined eyes, I saw that sense of fragility, and soon, that beautiful moment will be vanishing, Like you my beloved one, where are you…?
